Janna Bastow explains why ProdPad is proud to be joining the Global Climate Strike on Friday.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Young people have such power to inspire change. When I first heard about Greta Thunberg and her Fridays for Future<\/a> school strikes, I was inspired by her passion to tackle climate change. I was also disheartened by the negative reactions from the folks who wanted to stand in her way.

I don\u2019t see myself as an activist or an eco-warrior. But I do have a vested interest in the betterment of this planet we all share. I don\u2019t think that climate change should fall purely to individuals. It\u2019s certainly not something we should leave only in the hands of our children. For real change to happen, businesses of the world need to acknowledge the climate crisis. They need to do something about it.

That\u2019s why ProdPad is proud to be joining the Global Climate Strike. On Friday, September 20th<\/a>, we have team members in at least three different cities. We’re going to support the millions of climate strikers, from school children to tech workers, and everyone in between.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

We hope that by standing up for the planet on Friday, we\u2019ll add our voices to the mix, and encourage others to do the same.

Positive action isn\u2019t just about joining the Global Climate Strike. It\u2019s making commitments every day to build a more sustainable business. I tell my team that one of my long-term goals is to build a company that we can all be proud of, 20 years from now. We can\u2019t be proud if we\u2019ve stood by silently and haven\u2019t done our part to improve the planet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How else can we tackle this problem?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Besides joining the Global Climate Strike, we can support businesses and individuals wanting to help the planet too. If you\u2019re one of these businesses or individuals looking for product management help, do let us know<\/a>.

Why not carbon offset more than you use? At ProdPad we offset the equivalent of 62.55 tonnes of carbon every month, using this nifty tool called offset.earth<\/a>. But what else?

Reduce buying (where possible), purchase local (when feasible), and think of recycling and waste as a last resort.

Choose green energy and avoid extravagances like air conditioning and always-on kettles.

Make and encourage changes in your daily lives. How about using the Ecosia<\/a> search engine to turn advertising dollars into planted trees?

Most of all, we must be mindful and open to change, even at a cost to \u2018business as usual.\u2019 We\u2019re open to learning new ways of working and operating as a business. We’re looking to lead the way by example, instead of following because we\u2019re forced to change.

So when I talk about building a business that, in 20 years time, we’re all proud of, part of that is making sure we stood up for the right things at the right time.
